The Indian R. C. 2nd XI, by winning four matches off the real, have gained a very useful start and will be hard to catch up. Their victories have all boon fair ly convincing, and on paper, they have overcome some of the stiffest oppositions.
Craigengewer 2nd XI had hoped to surprise the Indians at Sookum poo, but whon. eot the big score of 166, runs they found the task rather too much for them. The visitors showed very sporting spirit, however, in lashing out to
thres goals to one in favour of the Recreio. MeGreavy reduced the lead by scoring from a free Bick awarded for a foul just outside the penalty area.
The Polico tried hard to level up, but when the final whistle sounded they were defeated by the odd geal in five,
B. Goseno was Injured soon after the restart, and the Recreio continued to the end with ten men only,

The Police just managed to get the better of the Royal Army Ordnance Corps at Huppy Valley, despite the fact that the visitors, who batted first, were dismissed for only 18 runa. An outstanding fenture of the Pollco team this year, as far as can be judged from their recent performances, is that their bowling is better than ever. Their batting, however, has deteriorated, as after playing five matches they have not once put up anything like a respectable total. I understand that Mr. King is expected back from leave this week; supporters of the Police X1 are looking forward to an improve- mont in their batting when he takes his place in the team.
Alexander, their fast left hand bowler, seems always to find his best form with the ball when play ing on home ground. He perform ed, the "hat trick" with the Inst three balls of his sixth over, his victims being Lee. Cpl. Morgan (bowled), S/Sgt. Greenaway (c and b) and Pte. Corbett (caught Lacey),

As I anticipated, Club de Recreio found the Navy Zud much too good for them. H. Alves, one of their best all-rounders, showed up very well for the Portuguese team. He took eight wickets for 51 runs and then scored 27 out of a total of 68 runs from the bat altogether quite a nice bit of work, The Navy are still, more or less, an unknown quantity and it is nover safe to take them too light- ly. Some weeks ago they lost to the Police in a low scoring match, but this time knocked up 169 runs against the Recreio!
