Whyte, A.D.C., Sir Shouson and Lady Chow, the Hon. Dr, and Mrs It. I. Kotewall and Mr. H. R. B. Hancock, president of the Lawn Tenula League.

New Shield.

Speaking of the First Division Mr. Hancock mentioned that tho Chinese had won the shield soven times altogether and had now won it outright. For a long time the League hnd been unable to discover the donors of the shield but after a long search they were able to es- tablish that Dr. Forsyth, a great sup- porter of tennis, was the donor of the Shield, but they had been unable to ascertain what the conditions wore,

As the C.R.C. had won the Shield more times than any other Club, the League and pleasure in handing the Shield over to the safe keeping of the Club. (Applauso),

Proceeding. Mr. Hancock said that the Lengue worried for a time about a new Shield for the second division, but they were not kept worrying for long, as a new Shield was presented by Mr. Lo Chung-shiu, another ar- dent supporter af tennis. He was sure that they were all grateful to Mr. Lo for his generosity. (Ap. plauso)..
