An unusual situation confronted the Liverymen of the City of Lon- don in electing the Lord Mayor. Sir Harold Moore, senior alderman, had expressed a desire to stand down in favour of Sir Kymston' Studd, but the Privileges Committee ruled that this was not permissible. When the candidates were submitted, loud crich of "never" greeted Sir Harold Moore's name, leaving the choice between Sir Kynaston Stud and Sir Stephen Killick. The former was elected.
