FAST PROGRESS.

British Motor Methods. AUSTRALIA'S TRADE.

Interesting comments upon the progress of the automobile manu- facturer in Britain woro made by Mr. Innes Randolph, managing director, General Motors Australla Pty., Ltd, who, has just returned from a visit to America, England, and Europe. Mr. Randolph spent some time at the Vauxhall plant at Luton, England, thoroughly familiarising himself with opera tions governing the manufacturo of this British car.

"I was very pleased," remarked Mr. Randolph, to note the fact that the Vauxhall plant has pro gressed to a point where its methods of operation are equal fu efficiency to the standards set for domestic plants of General Motors In the United States. The por sonnel of Vauxhall is 100 per cent, British; as is, also the spirit and/ whole. outlook of the company. The interest expressed in Aus tralin la emphasised by the fact that the now modol 20/60 h.p. Vauxhall at present being sold was designed primarily for Aus tralia to meet the conditions of this market as well as those of New Zealand and South Africa..

To secure an oven more inti- mate knowledge of Australian motoring conditions, and with a view to constantly keeping the pro- duct suitable ia design for 'Aus tralia's needs, tho managing director of Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., Mr. Leslie, Walton, will visit Aus tralia in September. During his stay here he will travel extensively through, the coun- try with a view to further absorbing ideas of local con- ditions and meeting distribu-

tors and dealers who are handling Vauxhall cars, as well as owners of this British car, It is their comments and suggestions and what he himself sees and experl. ences which Mr. Walton will take back with him to England for use In the development of the Vaux- hall plans for enlargement of Ita growth through the world."
