London-Brighton Scheme That Will Cost £3,000,000.

Plans are being considered by private syndicates, at the head of one of which is Lord Askwith, for constructing motor speed roads in England on similar lines to those built in Italy.

The first of these, it is anticipated, will be a road from London to Brighton, with two one-way tracks, A toll, probably of a farthing a mile for private motor cars, will be levied.

It is hoped that the first road will be approved by Parliament early in the next session, and that work will be started by November of next year.

Many people have been saying that the airplane was going to solve our traffic problems by taking people off the ground; but the airplane, It appoara, is only making bad matters worse... Here for instance, we have the results of a smash-up at Dillon, S.C.; where an airplane pilcted by Lieutenant Camilio Daza of

Colombia came down on the road and smashed into an automo- bile. You can see, above, what is left of the airplane Then, to prove that that wasn't just a freakish accident, the same thing happened at Mobile, Ala. An airplane tried to land at the altport there while an automobile was coming along and

crashed into it. The plane, turned over and was badly damaged, Bat the automobile fared no better. Here is all- that was left of it; two occupants were injured when the top and windshield were sliced off.
