(Mr. Williamson John Norman Dyer was a Londoner, born in 1869, son of Mr. John Dyer. His mother's maiden name was Abble Williamson. He was educated at Aberdeen College in London, and afterwards attended the Gymna slum Saverne Alsace and Mulhouse, Alance. He came out to China in 1890, aged 21, and joined tho ser- vice of the French Municipal Council at Shanghai. After aftcen years he resigned and became a partner In Messrs.
