A PECULIAR SNAKE.

UNUSUAL VISITOR AT THE JOCKEY CLUB STABLES.

A peculiar creature, snake-like in appearaner, but not more than seven inches long and of the anme thickness from head to tail was discovered yesterday at the Hong- gong Jockey Club Stables Causeway Bay.

It was noted that during the combat the tall of the creature was more employed than its head. It would "lash" at the ent with its tail, and there appeared to ba a good deal of force behind each blow.

The colour of this little creature was white, with patches of black all over it. The body was not wholly cylindrical, being flat in the bottom and curved on top, the thickness of a man's thumb.

While it was fiercely battling against the cat, one of the riding boys thrust a stick at it and in a few moments it wound itself round the stick. It was later roleased into another receptacle, where it is now kept.

Quite n number of people witnessed this fight between the enake and the cat. The Chinese
