The Coroner sald, in opening the enquiry, that it concerned the death of an old coolle who was knocked down near the Main Pumping Station in" Poktulum Road, on April 5 last, and that the object was to determine whether the driver was to be blamed for the accident la any way.
Dr. E. W. Kirk, Medical Officer in charge of Native Hospitals, who was the first witness called, said. that deceased was admitted, on transfer from, the Government Civil Hospital, into the Tung Wal Hospital on May 11.
