There were bright passages in a case in the Summary Court this morning, when a witness caused considerable amusement by frank- ly confessing that he came to Hongkong beenuse of gambling debts contracted in Canton, while another witness described the defendant as a "bobbed hair, woman."
The case was one in which the Mau On Company, 117 Pel Ho Sreet, Shamshuipo, claimed against Shum Chung-wa, married woman, trading as the Tai Chung Yuen Theatrical Troupe, 334 Port- land Street, Yaumati, for the ro- turn of theatrical effects or their value, $330, and $150 damages.
