HANKOW Y.M.C.A. IN INFATUATION OF AN
TROUBLE.
GARRISON COMMANDER TAKES ACTION. -
CINEMA POLITICS.
The YMCA at Hankow has achieved a good deal of unen- viable notoriety since it turned the Penman Hall into a cinema. Just how far the wishes of the donor of that hall, who is an earn- est Christian business man, are being carried out by the diversion of the hall to this purpose one can- not say: The excuse made, that if the hall were not in constant use it would be commandeered for political meetings, may have been trua, in the early part of 1920, but even, eo the Association would have done better to follow the example of the Churches and Buffer what it could not provent, somewhat anve by following u dovious course,
About a week ago the Association permitted an exhibition of dancing and acting in the premises which was very much criticized in Chin- Leao Christian circles. The actress concerned gave three different per- formances, none of them of the type which one expects to see in a Christian Institution. The worst of the three was Kwei Fel pels drunk.
IDEAL HUSBAND.
THE HONGKONG TELEGRAPH,
SECRET BEHIND HYDE PARK' TRAGEDY.
A pathétle story was told at the inquest on the married man and single woman who were found lying on the grass in Hyde Park' with throat wounds recently. The victims were
Miss Grace Clarke (57), of Kentish Town, and Mr. Herbert T. Murphy (44), of Lyeander-grove, N.
A brother of Miss Clarke said his sister met Murphy about five years ago, and thought he was a widower,
When Mina Clarke discovered Murphy was married she gave him up, but witness had heard that Murphy used to molest her on the way to the Tube..
Mrs. Murphy said she had been married 22 years, and had four children, the youngest 6 and the oldest 21.
About three years ago her hus- band admitted a friendship for Mias Clarke, 5.
Came Back Old.
"I naked her to drop it," said Mrs. Murphy, "and she said she would break it off.
"I saw her again last February. My, husband was out of work, and had left home, and I went to Mins Clarke's to make inquiries and to ask her where he was.
"My husband was out of work, down and out, depressed, and in El-health: I am sure he lost his memory, and I did not know where i he went for a fortnight, and she (Miss Clarke) did not know either.

Ever since he had been at work and always came home to time.
Apart from this infatuation, he had een most kind, an ideal hue- band, and a very good father.

BISHOP SHOT BY A CLERGYMAN.
New York, June 5.
A startling tragedy took place at Charleston, S. Carolina to-day.
The Right Rev. W. A. Querry, Episcopal Bishop of the South Carolina diocese, was shot in the chest and eritically, wounded at the diocesan headquarters by the Rev. J. H. Woodward, of Bruns- wick (Georgia).
He then turned the gun on him- self and committed suicide;
The only possible explanation, says a late message, appears to bo that the Rev. J. H. Woodward few was demented, as only a minutes before the Bishop had written a cheque for him for 50 dollars.
