Sixteen, soldiers were struck by Mongkoktṣul in the Dependency of lightning during artillery prac tice in Northern Japan. Two of them are expected to succumb.

Eight hundred houses bave been flooded and several wrecked, in- cluding the police station and post office at Kagoshima.

It is notified for information that the via Wireless rate to EUROPE has been reduced to $1.05 per word. The rate to the Dutch East Indies has been reduced from $1.00 to 80 cents, par word as from April 25th, 1928.
