Hayward's Fine Display.
Hongkong opened none too and had it not been for display by Hayward, the side would not have reached three figures. Hayward was the only man who play- ed the bowing with any degree of confidence, and his innings of 42 was invaluable to the team.
Hayward and Fincher opened, but the latter had only made eight when be was clean bowled by Isaacs. Quick followed, and got his leg in front of a straight ball when he had acored four. The only other player to reach double figures besides Hayward, wan Owen Hughes, and he got eleven. With Hongkong's score at 108 for eight wickets, stumps were drawn for the day. Hancock has obtained seven not out, and Erskine and Jex have yet
to go in.
The wicket just sulted Dr. O'liarn. He kept a perfect length and had all the batamen in trouble. During the ecurse of the afternoon he sent down no less than 21 overs, of which 17
