ANGLO-AMERICAN COMBINE.

NEW YORK WELCOMES MOND MOVE.

Washington, Apr. 13,

The announcement made by Sir' Alfred Mond in London of the formation of a combine of financial interests in Great Britain and America, and confirmed hors, is regarded in financial circles and the financial Press of New York 8 one of the most important Anglo-American development since the War.

It is, in the opinion of these! authorities, the culmination of work done with such patience and skill by Mr. Montagu Norman in bringing about the closest co- operation between the Bank of England and the Federal Reserve Board, through Governor Strong, of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York.

Instead of rivalry and a selfish policy of competition for tempor- ary advantage without considera- tion of the ultimate dangers, Bri- tish and American bankers have been led to see that the world re- quired that they join hands to bring about peace and stablisation. While the initial capital of the

company is comparatively new email, the interests on both sides Ansure whatever capital is needed, and the character, experience, and Istanding of the directors, both in ILondon and New York, are guaran- tees of the success of the company,

With such men as Sir Alfred Mond, the Earl of Reading, and their associates in London, and the Chase, Securities Company, a subsidiary of the Chaon National Bank of New York, the Recond largest bank of that city, and Ienders of finance and industry affiliated with them, there is at the alisposal of the Finance Company of Great Britain and America the pick of the financial brains of both countries, and perhaps the largest aggregation of capital ever assem bled.

In this combination there is it is felt, nothing political except as capital indirectly may affect poli- tics. It has been formed solely to bring together great interests; whose primary purposes is to do business and to give employment and make money. Neither legisla- tion by Congress nor any other official action is required to make the arrangement effective.
