SUMMER SHOES.
SPANISH HEELS AND
ROUNDED TOES.
High Spanish heels, some of them measuring 24 inches, and rounded toes, are the main characteristics of the most fashionable shoes for the ring and summer of 1928. Jup
for pily there are modifications those of us who do not feel that we can be raised to such heights! But the line of the new Spanish-heeled ahoe, which is very gracefully arch- ed, will dominate the shoe world for the present. The Spanish heel Is our old friend the Cuban heel in much more graceful gulse.
It was seen on nearly every pair of "fashion shoes" the irade's name for our very best) shown at a mannequin parade arranged by one of the lending wholesale firms the other day. The first, pair of shoes which we were invited to ad- mire, "illustrated the popular last for 1928, and al "showed the best selling colour of the moment." The shoes had Spanish heels, bar straps, round toes, and were of nig- ger glace. The favourite sides are those ranging between niger brown and the very pale brown which looks rather like milky cocon. When suntmer comes the parch- ment-coloured shoe comea into its
own.
New Colouro.
Pale grey shoes will be sold in larger mumbers than they were last year, but the beige shades are like- ly to rentuin our first favourites. The shoes have been so cleverly and successfully dyed in all the many subtly differing tones of beige and fawn that we shall have no difficulty in Binding the exact colour to match stockings or frocks. One new colour, belge with a tinge of mauve, is called "mauvette." Coloured Occasiona are shoes for special

There are two outstanding. In- novations. First, the introduction of a nule of colour in damusk dinner sets, in sheets and in patterned tea sels. Coloured Table Cloths,
Formal dinner cloths of fine white linen damask, exquisite Italian or raro Spanish lace are still "good" as a piece of old mahogany will always be good. But the hostess with im agination has a wide choice of tablo covering for such occasions now. Some of the smartcat hostessca are using coloured table clothes for the most formal dinners of the year.

New towels combine colour and the vogue of stripes and checks to give them dash. The finer towels, with lace inserts, almost invariably work the monogram into the laco pattern or near it. Bath towel sets come in every conceivable shade of colour.
