The death in announced of Earl Cave, the former Lord Chancellor, who has been ill fór some time, and who was only yesterday elevated to an Earldom-Reuter.
The deceased Earl was born in London in Fob. 1860: Ho Was educated at St. John's College, Ox- ford, of which he was a Scholar, taking a first in the final classical school. At that time he thought of going into journalism and wrote for the weakly papers, but in 1880 ho was called to the Bar and oven in those carly days a distinguished career was predicted for him. He secured a big practice at the Chan- cery Bar and becamb a K. G. in 1904, when he was also appointed Recorder of Guildford.. From 1913- to 1915 he was standing counsel for his old University and from 1914 to 1915 Attorney-general to the
