The Manila polico department and the efty fiscal's office, or more specifically Jose del Prado, assistant eity iscal, again aro at loggerheads, says the Mantic Bulletin. The issue at present is whether bridge and mahjongg are the games of chanco.

Colonel John W. Green, Manila police chief, maintains bridge and mahjongg are games of skill which one who has not studled the threo:

Fiscal del Prado, who has studied the way the games are played, in co-operation with three members of the secret service gambling squad, concluded that bridge and mah jongg are games of chance, which should be prohibited by law. He added that the games aro in every way similar to the game of "conjo," which was declared sometime ago a game of chance by Judge Sim- plicio del Rosario; of the Manila Court of First Instance.

The rock, located off San Ramon, has been a constant source terror to interisland captains since the sinking of the Brutus, owing to the uncertainty of its position.

Ships travelling from northern ports in the islands to Jole have adopted a passage out of their way and the chartering of the rock will now make it possible for them to shorten the route approximately 25 miles, according to Captain F. S. Borden, commander of the Path- ander.

It is also believed by the officers, of the Pathfinder that the hull of the Brutus was located. In taking Boundings, they found a smali knob located at the bottom, ovidently covered with OCCIN growth that conformed to the measurements of the sunken veasel.
