Chong Tuck-wing of the University also had a fairly easy task in wreat ing victory from V. M. Tregoar, who went down in three straight sets.
The Japanese ex-champion, T. Honda, engaged in a tussle with T.
San-and won by 6-1, 6-1, 7-5. San made a poor display in the first and second sets, employing only the back hand stroke, which seldom troubled Honda. A change of tactics in the third set, coupled with some enter prise, resulted in San getting a load of two games from Honda. There after Honda appeared, to be troubled by San's frequent visit to the net.
