PACKARD PRICE REDUCTION. An Important Announcement.

Following closely on the heels of a quarterly statement which show- ed the Packard company to be do- ing the greatest volume of business in its entire history, the Packard Motor Company on January 1, 1928, announced a big price ro- duction on all types of its own custom model' eight cylinder cars. The cars remain identically the. same Packard Eights the company has been building in the past.

The announcement said the |Packard factories are busier than ever before in nearly 30 years of motor car building and at a time when seasonal activity is least ex- pected. This bears out the state- ment for the first quarter of the company's fiscal year, including the months of September, October and November, made public recently The statement showed that during these months Packard shipped 13,020 automobilés, far exceeding shipmonts for any single:~quartor: since the first Packard car was built. It also exceeded the total number of cars for many whole visits to relatives and friends half years of operation. is quite dangerous for cars pro-| ceeding in opposite directions to pass-especially as the bend makes the road a blind one. A good many motorists are using this road, and a little more room at this spot would be greatly appreciated. Number Plates,

A great deal of doubt appears to exist among local motorists as to the use of number plates-many assuming that they can eh-man' the plates from one car to another. This is not the case. The Regula- tion reads: "Number plates will not be transferred from one vehicle. to another unless permission has first been obtained from the C.S.P." We are given to under- stand that the Licensing De partment has had, difficulty with the records owing to this fact not being aufficiently widely known. When a car has been licensed and a set of plates issued for it, the plates are for that car alone. It would greatly assist the author- itien if motorista, when securing a .cond car, would obtain a com- pletely new set of plates and dis- pose of the first car with plates complete. After all, there is very little to choose between one num- ber and another-they all serve the official nurnote for which ther were intended.

The Races,

The traffic was excoptionally hoavy during the first three days of the Races and we were pleased to note that nothing of a serious nature occurred in the way of accidents. You cannot stop carbon from forming in your motorcar engine. It forms in every engine. And you cannot prevent bits of engine carbon from entering and contaminating your stankcase oll. If you have driven your car for 1,000 miles you may, be sure that your oil contains a dan gerous amount of carbon particles,

There are countless little bonfires of benzine and bil burning inside your engine cylindere when you are operating your motorcar. Because benzine and oil both contain carbon, a residus of carbon soot always re- mains behind in the combustion chambers,...

Carbon is hard. Diamonds are made of carbon. Particles of this. hard, carbon soot work their way by the piston rings, collect in the crankcase off, where they steal engine power and wear coatly engine parts.

Fresh oil is always cheaper than repairs. Drain the carbon-laden oil from your crankcass every 1,000 miles. Refill with the correct grade of Mobiloll. Changing oil will give your car more power-more miles of trouble-free operation..
