a big risk, because the domestic happiness of all men and most children is very closely con- Beeted with physical comfort.
Yet how many husbands of efficient housekeepers and children trained to the perfection of order- liness would not agree, with Canon Fairchild when, preaching on a re- eent Sunday in Bangor Cathedral, he said that domestic science could make a woman into an ellicient and accomplished housekeeper,
but
only God could make her a home-1 maker!
It is true that no human power can give to a woman who lacks them, those qualities that can make a home for the spirit as well as the body. That perception, which seen in an instant when all is not well with a loved one, and that quick sympathy, which makes it possible for all under her care to talk freely to her, are not given every woman who becomes a wife and mother,

A home should he, above all, n place' where those who belong to it can find rest. Here all the bicker- ing, the competition, the auspicion of outside rivals, ends, and perfect trust and love and peace should work together to blot the memory of them from tired hearts and minds.
But some of the most efficient housewives pay for their excellence in housekeeping by a lack of all those qualities which create that atmosphere of restfulness no de- sirable in the home, and it is a nice problem to decide which his- band has made the worse bargain, the one who has chosen only a housekeeper, or the one who has secured a spiritual affinity, who tras no knowledge of the art of run- ning a house. -

The tulle exactly matches the frock in colour-or some note in the frock. For instance, a society girl caused quite a sensation re- cently by wearing an oyster-white frock with a scarlet sash and shoes and a huge scarlet tulle comb that rose severely from the curls that fell down her neck.
