OPTIMISM REGARDING SYNTHETIC - BENZINE.
London, Dec. 4.
Mr. A. E. Brane, of Sydney, states that he has obtained from Germany a world option over A process by which berzine may be, not chtained from, mineral oils containing benzine, by means of "cracking," which is effected by heat and pressure.
Professor Fritz Frank, one of the foremost technical authori ties in Germany, has reported fa-j yourably on the results of his ex- periments. He has certified that all crude tars can be treated in and that tars of the generator, brown coal and primary tara" of heavy shale oil have realised 20 to 50 per cent, of benzine sufficient- ly refined to go direct to a petrol" ngine. The plant, he states, is capable of continuous working.
