THE ANNUAL PRIZE-GIVING.
The annual prize-giving cere mony in connexion with St. Stephen's Giris College, was hold In the Kwok Siu Lau Hall the. Collage yesterday afternoon under the chairmanship of the Right Rev. Dr. Duppuy, Bishop of Victoria, who is Chairman of the College Council. There was a large attendance of parents and friends, including the following: Mr G. C Laard, wife of the GỐC, Sir Robert Hồ Tung, Mỹ. Kwok Slu-lau, Mr. A, E. Wood (Director of Education), Rev. H. V. Halward, Rov, G. T. Walde- grave, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Cheung, and many others, 7
The procedinge opened with the singing of the School Hymn, after which a programmme of recita- tions from Shakespeare's Julius Caesar, songs and a scene from the "Water Babies" were given by pupils of the school. Amongst the older girls taking part were Tee Lal-ki, Diana Ho, Kwok Pui- chee, Wu Lai-king, Mary Braga, Janie Weller, Carolina Braga, and Eva Thomas. All the items were excellently rendered, and great credit is due to both the teachers and pupils for their efforts in pro ylding this entertainment for the visitors.
Annual Report.
In her annual report the Head- mistress (Miss. E. S. Atkins) said: Mrs. Luard, my Lord Bishop, Members of the Council, Ladies and Gentlemen, it la with great pleasure that I welcome you here this afternoon, and especially are we glad to welcome back our Chairman the Bishop and hope he has benefited by his furlough.

University Examinations.
The results of the University Examinations show that the stan- dard of work has been well main- tained. Both the Matriculation. candidates entered for the examination passed, while weight out of the twelve Senior candi- dates passed, one with distinction in needlework,
Of the seventeen candidates en- tered for the Junlor, twelve pass-. eil, one with distinctions in Hist tory, Scripture and Music, two others with distinctions in Music and three with distinctions in Needlework. Classes in Chinese from the Kindergarten to Matri éulation standard are held in the afternoon under the supervision of Mr. Lo Kwan Sheung, assisted by a large Chinese staff, all but one of the University examination," candidates having been examined.. in this subject.
We were visited by the Inspec- tor of English Schools in Octo ber and were helped and stimulat ed by his kindly criticism. The Medical Officer of Health," Dr.. Minett, gave us a satisfactory re- port.
There has been increased keen- ness shown by the girls for physi- cal culture and games, and drilling has been introduced into the Upper School. The new tennis court has been built, to wards the making of which Mr. Woo Hay Tong most generously made us a gift of $500. The court has already been much used.
Extension Wing.
Plans are going forward for the building of part of the Extension Wing, as we urgently need more. class room accommodation, in: "he vernacular side of the school und a Science room in St. Stephen's.. The demand for the teaching of science is growing and as more of our girls pass on to the University we want to prepare them more adequately for the higher work which they must undertake there.. The equipment of a science room. is an expensive. matter, but I can' confidently appeal to the gen- erosity of parents and frionds to help us in this matter.
We are planning at present to build. two storeys only, as funde will not permit of more, but ag fresh needs arise, so we know that we, may count In the future as in the past on the generous support of our many kind friends to sup~ ply those needs
The missionary spirit in which various forme 'of social service have been undertaken by our girls has steadily increased."
