were first sent to the Straitt Settlements from Hong Kong
in 1847
and their services
were assigned to the then (Sufian)
Governor of the Straits
then under the sort of bakin Settlements and from that date of to the present year ho claim has been pinpoind
on the Hongkong Goverment for the cost of the maintenanc of these convicts, either by the Government of dendie, or by the Board of Treasury.
