Dr. J. B. Addison, called by the Coroner to give expert evidence, said that it was his opinion that chloral hydrate should not be taken except under medical advice, He agreed that 45 or 60 grains were sometimes administered on the Continent, but added that such a dose would be given under close medical supervision.
