This is one of the annoyances that every motorist has to put up with By holding the choke partly closed; when you first start the ear, you. may find the engine will run more steadily and by idling it until the water is warm; it should start the car and run with less jerking, but it is hardly worth while doing this. Don't let this trouble bother you, but be thankful that it is no worse!

Charm

There is an irresistible charm in the simple dignity of Packard lines-aslender, well bred appearance as appealing to the man of affairs as to the woman of fashion. Probably no other car in the world has attracted so many distinguished owners.

But Packard's prestige is based upon

something more than external grace and beauty. Every owner, regardless of his mechanical knowledge, senses the su- periority of theimproved Packard chassis. A matchless agility in traffic-and on hills-plus an ability to maintain thrilling speeds hour after hour are renewing, for many, the sheer delight of motoring.

How to Avoid Skidding.

A skid is usually due to one of the following causes: sudden and violent braking, jerky movements of the steering-wheel when chang ing direction, cornering too quickly or harsh use of the accelerator.

If a modern car is driven gently and the above faults avoided there

is little danger of a bad skid,

It should be remembered that wet roads in summer are often more dangerous than is the case in win- ter, especially when a shower fol- lows dry spell. Some of the new roads are extremely slippery in these conditions and extreme care should be taken on a stretch of road with a pavement Ilke carpet.

SHELL offers you motor lubricating oil scientifically blended to do properly the three things which oil ought to do.

1. At cold air temperatures it is free

Alowing to give quick starting. 2 At crankcase temperature, rela

tively thick to ensure economical consumption,

3. At cylinder temperature it has good fluidity to reduce friction but retain sufficient body to efficient lubrication.
