A Chinese detective said, that -- subsequent to the receipt of in- formation he intercepted the two mon as they were landing from a scavenger-bont. They were not carrying any parçel, but on being acarched at the police station those tickets were found padded around their waists in the same way as a cork life-belt was worn.

A Chinese detective arrested a Central, when the latter failed to man yesterday in Queen's Road

The man was charged before Mr. R. E. Lindsell this morning with unlawful possession of the drugs. Inspector Grant prosecuted.
Defendant claimed that he was a travelling trader, and had bought the medicine from time to time from various shops and coolies. Sometimes he even bought sweep-. juga from small boys.
Police evidence showed that the man, when charged, claimed to have mado the purchases from many shops, which he named. The shop- keepers, however, all deniod having seen the defendant, except one, who stated that the defendrint had made a small purchase about two months*
