STEAMERS COLLIDE.

JAPANESE VESSEL SLIGHTLY

When the N. Y. K. cargo steamer Tottori Maru arrived at Singapore last week, from Bombay, her com mander, Captain K. Harada, re- ported that his vessel had been in Chargeurs collision with the

Reunis vessel Cup Lay, off Pulce Jemur, near One Fathom Bank in the Malacca Straite at 7.58 in the evening of June 11th.

The Cap Lay sustained no dam- nge and proceeded on her voyage to Colombo, whilst the Tottort Maru had her stern damaged by the bow of the French vessel. The.. Tottori Maru was carrying a gene ral cargo and had no passengers on board. She was taken to Kop- pel Harbour for examination and repairs.

The Cap Lay is a vessel of 4,884 tons net, owned by Chargeurs Raunts, and arrived in Singapore from Haiphong on Friday, 10th, leaving the same day for Colombo, Marsellles, Havro, Dunkirk and Antwerp.

The Tottori Maru, is a Japanese venes owned by the N. Y. K. of 8,703 tons net, and 5.973 tons gross, carrying a crew of 68 all told, and having a speed of ten knots. She left Bombay on June 2nd:
