Frigidaire

ELECTRIC

REFRIGERATION

All of us know that it is difficult to preserve perishable foods for any length of time. We have learned from experience that they quickly become unfit to eat.

We have found that it is necessary to consume, in a short time, those foods which form a part of our daily diet. Milk, for example, sours very quickly and must be used soon after its delivery,

Fresh ments must be prepared almost immediately after their purchase. Al- though cooking delays bacterial growth, few of us care to use left-overs from day to day.

Berries and other fresh fruits become over-ripe, ferment and spoil in a short time. Vegetables, too, lose their freshness and original purity very quickly; Cooking: "delays their deterioration, but at best they must be consumed soon after they are purchased,

FRIGIDAIRE WILL PRESERVE EVEN THE MOST PERISHABLE OF FOODS.

MEMBERS SUPPORT NEW

BUILDING PLAN.

Members of the Hongkong Cricket Club yesterday approved the proposal of the Committee to add a second storey to the building and make other Improvements to the building, pas- sing the following resolutions pro- pused by the chairman,, Mr. T. E Pearce, and seconded by Mr. P. Jacka: That the Committee be and are hereby authorized to take the neces sary steps to add a second storey to the pavilion and make such al- the terations and improvements to existing building as may be deemed advisable.

That the Committee ba and are hereby authorized to borrow such suns of money and make such fin- ancial arrangements as may be re- quired from time to time to carry out the work approved by the previous "resolution.

The chairman anid the majority of members were aware of the Com- mittee's proposals which were out- lined at a former meeting. The present meeting had been called to of the cbtain formal approval scheme. He thought it would be suf- ficient to outline the Committee's rea- sons for suggesting, the building improvements.

In the first place there was the necessity for increased dressing as. Then the increasing comodation. membership of the Club created a demand for more "elbow room." Thirdly the finances of the Club were in good order. Another con- sideration was that building costs had decreased during the past two years. Further, the present was the close seasor and a suitable time for the work to be carried out.

Demolishing the Staircase.

Mr. G. R. Suyer said that ho sup ported the resolution but thought there were matters of detail which might be brought forward. With re- gard, to the increasing membership the Club was anxious to attract young men, but it occurred to him that the proposed increased dressing accommo- dation might merely pravide for the present membership. Then again there was the question of the stair- case. It might be more simple to let it remain as it was.

With regard to the staircase that seemed to him to be an item which the architects had worked in with the scheme It would seem a pity to spoil the ship for a penn'orth of tar. As the saying went. However, if Mr., Sayer had support from other members who thought that the demoli- tion of the staircase was an extravag anee the Committee would consider | the question again.

Mr. Sayer intimated that he had no amendment to make to the re- solution.
