Playing in the Open Doubles, S. A and H. D. Kuminhn, although they did not give a very impressive performance, won fairly comfort- ably from L. M. 5. Lloyd and W. A. Nowers. The latter pair looked as if they were going to extend the Indian players, but, after the first set, they appeared to be well benton.
Another interesting, match was that between the veteran, S. E. Green, and the young Indian player, 1. M. Razack. Green won the first sot and Razack the second. The third set went to 16 games and Razack won by 9-7. The fourth set, which was a tame affair, went also to Razack.
T. Ema was beaten by Colonel Russell Brown, who played a very clever game, whilst N. Trambitsky eliminuted F. J. Remedios from the contest.

CLUB DEFEATS THE BORDERERS.
The Hongkong Rugby Football Club still hold an unbeaten record this season, although they were fully extended yesterday afternoon by the Borderers.
There was no scoring in the first half of the match, although it was clearly apparent that the Club had to go all out if they were to main- tain their unbeaten record. Out- side of one attempt of Lammert to break through in the first half, the Borderers had really not much difficulty in keeping the ball in their opponenta' half.
After the interval, the pace was in no way lessened, but Lammert, by a great individual effort, carried the ball all the way from midfield to score right in the centre of the goal. C. D. Wales converted.
The Borderers, however, did not seem dismayed and their continual pressing resulted in Sergeant Tay- lor scoring the only try for his sfde, which was not converted.
The game was very evenly con- tested and the Club won by the nar

The combination highway and railway bridge will cost approxi- mately Pesos 3,200,000, according to Mr. Sylvester.. A three span steel truss bridge may be built at nuch less cost and later augment-
with an adjunct railway side but it will cost more in the end, It is pointed out. The simpler construction will cost about Pesos 1,800,000. The project will be temporary and must provide for the building afterward of an addi- tional portion for laying of the railroad line.
With the plans prepared, Mr. Unson and Jose Poez, manager of the Manila Railroad Company, are expected soon to confer with the Governor General.
Mr. Sylvester explained that the plans prepared by the Bureau could be changed or modified 1

The Secretary of Finance Mr. Unson has pointed out that the delay in arriving at a decision on e proposed extension of the from line Manila Railroad Aloneros to Ragay was due to cen- sideration of the construction f the proposed steel bridge across the Pasig.
