MID-LEVELS RESIDENTS.
MATTERS DISCUSSED AT ANNUAL MEETING.
The annual general meeting of the Mid-Levels Residents' Asso ciation was held at the Ladies" Recreation Club, Peak Road, yes- terday evening, under the chair- manship of Mr. W. A. Dowley.
The annual report which was read by the chairman stated:
1
Since the formation of the As- aociation 94 members have been enrolled. The present membar- ship is 60, the reduction being due to departures from the Co lony and other causes. The hon. secretary and hon. treasurer's Bstitensent of accounts shows balance in hand on
December 31st. 1926, of $109.79. The fact, however, must not be lost sight of, that owing to 27 members still being in arrears, with their sub- acriptions for 1926, the expenditure for the period under review shows an excess over income of $3.82. In this connexion it should be mentioned that as the income of the Association will not permit of the employment; of a shroff, it is earnestly hoped that in the fu-

Several meetings of the com- mittee have been held during the period under review. The com- 20 mittee have brought to the notice of the Government several mat 21 turs which they considered would 27 be of benefit to the members, auch 28 as the provision of a children's 30 playground near May Road sta-32 tion, the difficulty of obtaining 3 taxi cabs by telephone, the better Hrhting of Tregunter Path and the use by coolies of the benches near May Road station, all of which, are regeiving sympathetic gonsiteration."
In response to representations by your committee the Peak Tram- ways Co, Tal. have met the wants of residents using May Head Sta tion by providing adequate shelter there.
It may appear to members' that the committee have concentrated on matters for the beneût of resi dents on the May Road level only. It is therefore hoped that mom- bers resident on the mid-levels other than May Road will bring to the notice of the committee any matters on their particular, level which they consider can be 130- fully dealt with by the Association. Unfortunately this Associa- tion is not in the happy position of the Peak Residents' Associa- tion and the Kowloon Residents' Association, who, having a wider MASSAGE HALL sphere for their operations, are able to show a much greater re- sult for their labours. We shall only be happy to be placed in a similar position and any sugges- Lion, no matter how small, will always reecive ready and sym- pathetic consideration by the com- mittee.
