AT HELENA MAY INSTITUTE.
An extremely successful salo of work was held at the Helena May Institute yesterday afternoon, by the Victoria Branch of the Mothers' Union, there being a varied assortment of articles on sale, for which there was a brisk demand, with very commendable results, which are to be paid over to local and London charities.
There were a number of stalls devoted variously to the sale of vegetables, fruit and flowers, fancy' work, children's wear, tobacco and cigarettes, and cakoa and sweets. Ten 'was served at amali tables and a nuraber of those attending took advantage of the facilities offered.
Among those present were Lady Clemenți as patroness, and Mrs. Duppuy, the president of the Mothers' Union, together with Mrs. Hut and other officials of the organisation.
Thanks are due for gifts from the British American Tobneco Company, Messrs. Caldbeck Mc- Gregor, Kayamally, Wing On, and a number of members of the Mothers Union and sympathisors, for fruits, flowers; sweets and sundries.
The secretary, Mrs. Noll and the Treasurer, Mrs. Ollon, who were responsible for the organisation and commendable display, are to be congratulated on the success of the sale, which means so much to the very deserving charities to which the Union makes a yearly contribution.
