FORMAL OPENING OF ST. PETER'S CLUB,

Occupying as it does a commo- dious house with several large and airy rooms, St. Peter's Young Men's Club, which is situated in the midst of the residential quar-. ter of Bonham Road and the vicinity, promises to be one of the leading local clubs in promoting. closer social relationship. between young men.

Emanating from St. Peter's Church, West Point, the Club will made adequate, provision for the development of the religious activities of its members most of whom attend St Peter's.

The premises were open to In- pection on Saturday when the committee and members were "At Home" to their friends,, on the ộc- casion of the dedication and in- auguration of the rooms by the Rev. H. Copley Moyle, Vice-Preži- dent, who in the absence of the President the Rt. Rev. C. R. Dup- pay (Bishop of Victoria); wòl- comed the visitors on behalf of the Club.

1:

Speaking in eulogistic terms of the work of the indefatigable Secretary, Mr. George Zimmeri, Mr. Copley Moyle said that they had to congratulate Mr. Zimmern upon the consummation of his pro- ject. When the idea was first mooted, many people thought it quito impossible to carry It through, but Mr. Zimmern d stuck to his work and desplie almost insurmountable difficultya had brought the Club into being. It was Atting that that splendid work' should be acknowledged.

Chairs Needed.

"We welcome our visitors and hope that we shall see more of them in future" continued Mr. Copley Moyle. "I would ask you to go upstairs and have a look round. I am afraid that we pre- sent our best appearance doğm stairs, but that leads me to ask you to think of us if you have any spare chairs or tables that you 26 not want. I can assure that they would be very welcome to this Club."

In reply, Mr. Zimmern, disclaim- [ed all the praise bestowed on him” by the Vice-president and in the name of the joint secretaries thanked Mr. Copley Moyle for Mis remarks and the visitors for their presence.

"Your sentiments are coloured.. by your kindness," continued Mr. Zimmern, “I cannot regard it sa mero prose, but as poetic licence. It tells me how much we have th live up to. The promoters of the Club started It in the hope thaĩ it would help young people to prosper. The world cannot be |right until the young men and women of the world are right.” (Applause).

Three cheers for Mr. Zimmern brought the ceremony to a clósa.
