FAREWELL DINNER TO U. S. CONSUL-GENERAL-Prior to his departure on leave Mr. E. S. Canning. ham was given a farewell dinner at the Bureau of Foreign Affairs, Bbangbai, by the Commissioner and his staff. Mr. Cunningham is seated on the right of Mr. Hou Yuan, while others included in the group are Judge Milton D. Purdy, Mr. B. Possondon (Chairman of the S. M. C.), Mr. Juleon Arnold (U. 8. Trade Commissionar) and Mr. V. G. Lyman.

A TIMBER FOREST-Fire now is the only obstacle in the way of a perpetual timber supply for the north-west of America.
