The final portion of the longest railway tunnel in the world-on the City and South London Un- derground line to Morden-was officially opened yesterday. The line now runs from Morden in the south to Edgware in the north, and the total length is 161⁄2 miles, thus beating even the famous tun- nels of Switzerland.
