THE WORLD SPORT

THE SOCCER FIELD,

SURREYS TRYING OUT THE K.0.5.B.

دیر

[BY "WANDERER.”)

Twelve matches are down for decision in the Hongkong Football League to-morrow, but the most Interesting game in the Colony will be the friendly at Sookunpoo between the East, Surrey Regi ment and the K.O.S.B.

The Borders will relieve the Surreys of their Longue engage- ments ipso facto, and the interest of all other League teams will be focussed. on the match. It is upon their showing against the Surreys that the qualities of the newcomers will be judged, but too much stress should not be placed on the result. Football is a trifle dificult after a long sea voyage.

In the League, interesting games will be fought out at Kowloon and on the Club ground.

FIXTURES, GROUNDS AND REFEREES.

RUGBY MATCH.

CLUB DEFEATS HERMES,

The Hongkong Rugby Football Club opened its season last even- ing, when, on the King's Park ground, it met and defeated a team from H.M.S, Hermos by 8 points to 5. Lammert scored both tries for the winners, one being convert- ed. The game was closely contest- ed and some good play wass seen. The teams were

Club-Summers, Wales, Morri- son, Houre, Lammert, Easterbrook, Ralph, Millar (capt.), Beveridge, Lee, Foster, Carter, Mcintyre, Stevenson, and M. Garrod,

H.M.S. Hermes.-A. B. Fowler, A. B.. Curtis, E. R. A. Goodsell, Llout. Sturgess, F/O. Brookman, Lieut. Grant, E. R. A. Tinker, Lieut. Garmons. Williams, 'Lieut. Haines, Lieut. Lewalgue, Pay,-Mid. Blowers, A. B. Hendon, E. R, A. McTagga. E, Stoker Evans and Sail- maker Plumb..

Engineer-Commander Villar was

the referee.

POLICE AT KOWLOON.

With the venue changed to Kow- loon, and, the forward line stiffen- ed by the return of Hayes, Kow- Icon should be good enough for victory against the Police. Caveille drops from centre-forward to left back, and Brodie, who led the line with plenty of dash in a friendly last night, will again lead the attack. The Police have made several changes from the side which went down before the Royal Artillery, and will put up a keen game.

WITH THE JUNIORS.

Only the Royal Artillery Reger- ves, who have played in one game only, have gained full points in the Junior "A" Division, despite the early stage of the season, and a keen struggle for leadership ap pears probable. St. Josoph's were, pipped by the Recrio last week, but should register a victory. against South China:

Starting with an improved side, Kowloon Reserves should figure with the away winners, albeit the University are not an easy team to beat. Chinese "A" meet Chinese "B" and one can scarcely have any doubt as to the result, while the Club Reserves should at least hold the Recréto Rezerves.
