MISS AILEEN WOODS ON THE TANGO.

In the course of an interview with a representative of The Hong. kong Telegraph, Miss Aileen Woods, the well-known teacher of dancing who has just returned to Hong- kong from a three years' stay in Sumatra, and who is re-cpening her dance-teaching studio in Beacons field Arcade, confirmed the recent report that it is the Tange which is fast becoming the favourite dance.

The ground floor will house a large private ball room completely equipped with service rocis. The second and third into storeys will be divided up the most modern two room apart- ments. Work will start the first of next year.

The Continental Tango, which must not be confused with the cla- berate and intricate Spanish Tango, le really quite simple to learn and fu danced to some very beautiful music, sald Miss Woods. It pro-, vides a very welcome change and relief to the Fox Trot, which to day is very much like the old Two.

When asked about the Charleston, Miss Alleen Woods said that the cance was much too difficult and uch too tiring for the average rin or woman. It was all right as an exhibition dance. There were about two or three steps out of the Charleston which could be incor- porated into the Fox Trot and which were not difficult or tiring, and these "would doubtless become fairly popular for the sake of in- troducing a little variety. The full Charleston, however, was not suit- ed for the ball room, and was really a demonstration dance..

Miss Wooda said that she noticed that "The Blues" (which is really a slow Fox Trot) was still danced a little here, but she thought that it would give way to the Tango, which was also a slow dance. Tho Fox Trot, the Tango and the Waltz were the dances which would mainly constitute the programmes of to-
