Mr. Beavis opened the mooting by congratulating the Society on the success of the last year's work, but pointed out that although they had, shown that they were fully capabis of producing operas, it should be borne in mind that the improvement of music in the Colony was the forte. The Deutsche Lufthansa hada test flight to Péking and back. and declare that it had such good?: results that a provisional series of forty flights will be started for. Peking next summer, in which the. possibility of extending flights to Valdivostock and to Shanghai, will' be studied. The Lufthansa expects to open a regular service in the spring of 1928. It is considered. desirable to erect a meteorological station at Lake Baikal, between. Irkutsh and Verchneudinsk Reuter.
