Two American travellers, Mr. Edward C. Evans and Mr. Linton O. Wells, have just been round the world in twenty-eight days.

The table given below shows how the time taken for the journey has gradually diminished since: the famous trip made half a cen tury ago by Jules Verne's ficti- tious traveller in eighty days. By travelling by air for about a third of the journey, 6.300 miles,. |_Menara__Evana_and_Wells--were- able to break the previous record; established thirteen years agn by Mr. J. H. Mears, by nearly' seven days. The only flying- 'machine used by Mr Meara was. a-hydroacroplane,-which--carried- him from a yacht a few...mlies.
