SUICIDAL COMPETITION
One of the greatest handicaps againt which the British cotton spinning industry has been fighting for a long time past is the willing ness of the competing spinners to undercut prices. Perhaps there is no great British industry in which cut-throat competition has run more riot than it has among the mills of Lancashire, with the result that operation costs, including rates of wages, for the workers, have been reduced to the very minimum. It has been felt for a long time. pust that some- thing in the way of organisa- tion against this internal warfare of Lancashire might be attempted, and we notice, by a Reuter's mes ange received yesterday that the Federation of Master Cotton Spin- Der's Association has inaugurated
