J. LIMAGE, Agenta Hongkong July 31, 1020.

London, July 8-At Stamford- bridge Burghley's time in the 440 yards hurdles was a British record. He jumped well, the only Britisher" to make a show against a number of Continentals. A Hungarian was second and an Italian third. Poltzer valiantly endeavoured to win the quarter mile. His pre- vicus, effort may have reduced his vigour and he was unable to catch Rinkel, the Britisher, who, running magnificently, led throughout. Vangeyzel, the Ceylonase, and Pendlesbury of the Achiles Club, outjumped many

Continentals. The high jump reached six feet when Vangeyzel won with six one. Webster apparently a believer in quantity well as quality did an un- precedented feat in winning two of the longest races of the day break ing records.
