Almost double the normal quantity of petrol was consumed in Groat Britain éach day during the general strike. The story of the way in which supplies wore distributed to make such extra consumption possible is ar account of a desperato struggle against unbelievable odds.

without its supply of motor split during the strike. No increase of price was made to compensate for the added cost of transporting all éupplies in tank lorries. The temporary loss of thousands of railway tank cars was only the first of many difficulties to be ovorcome.
