FRENCH ENDEAVOURS TO. FIND A SUBSTITUTE,
The search for cheapor motor fuels continues with unabated} vigour in France. Two new fuels, are at present under official test; at the laboratory of the Auto- mobilo Club de Franco, and at Montihory track. The present exporimonts are rendered more. intorestink, as there is no parti-| cular mystery or socracy about! their composition. One of the fuels, known as "Tisolino," hails, from Arras, and was used with success in the Circuit des Routes Pavoos last autumn. The liquid, which is bright pink in colour, consists of a mixture of 58 per! cont. commercial alcohol, with approximately 42 per cent. petrol. There is a third ingredient pre- sunt in a very small proportion, which is some form of amylitic other.
Whatever may be the nature off this particular ingredient, it ap peurs to overcome certain disadi vantages attached to the use of previous petrol-alcohol mixturen. The following points are claimed in favour of Tisolino." Economy in actual fuel consumption in! volumetric capacity), reduction in cost of fuel, and great dissolving power. It is also capable of dis solving a number of impurities which are usually presont in ordinary petrol and, at the same, time, it does not carbon-np the cylinder heads.
