The case in which Chau Sul-hin is charged with offences in connee- tion with bankruptcy proceedings was continued at the Criminal See- stons yesterday afternoon, before Mr. Justice Woods....
The case had been adjourned from the morning, when Mr. R. G Jenkin, for the defence, raised point of law as to whether a state- mant made before the filing of the Statement of Affers could be admitted as evidence against the prisoner.

He had been interpréter to the Official Receiver for 14 years, but he was not on the list of sworn inter- preters.

Handed a sheet of Chinese characters witness said it was given to him by the defendant as a list of his creditors and debtors taken from the firm's books. De- fendant did not go over them with him.
His Lordship: Do the firm's books contradict the statement of affairs? No.
His Lordship: Then they are not relevant?
Mr. Whyte-Smith: My ease is that they are not genuine books.
Mr. Jenkin interposed that there was no charge of falsifying the books.
Cross-examined, the witness sald he took an path before Mr. Orme when he was Ofeinl Re- ceiver four years ago.
Asked by His Lordship what his point would be Mr. Jenkin said at a later stage he would submit that witness was not a lawfully. sworn interpreter at all and referred His Lordship to the Ordinance.
Mr. M. W. Lò was next called hut Mr. Jenkin submitted the Crown not being able to support their allegation in count number one is evidento was immaterial. His Lordship upheld the objection. On a similar objection in the case of Ng Wong, formerly accountant to defendant's firm Mr. Jenkin was also upheld.
Principal Witness Missing. Mr. Whyte-Smith said his next witness, the most important, was missing and asked for permission to read his evidence given at the Magistracy. He believed he was In Canton.
Sergt. Edward. Meadows stated's he had made enquiries at an ad dress given him by the witness, Chau Ching-fong, but he could not. find him there. This address was 142. Connaught Road West, On Jung 19 he last saw the witness: that was in the office of the Crown Codice of the Crown Solicitor. H
Mr. Jankin raised no objection to the evidence being rendant His Lordship, after examining: It, said there appeared to be a lot of matter not relevant and he would Adjourn, until to-day, when he would read the evidence minus its Irrelevancios.
