The Catholic community Hongkong was well represented at the Theatre Royal yesterday, when a reception was held in honour of the Right Rev. Monsignor Valtorta, Bishop of Leras, and Vicar Apos- totic of Hongkong. He was pre- sented with an addross which was read in eleven different languages. Bishop Valtorta, replying, said he was deeply touched by the mani- festation of Catholic loyalty. He could not express in words the confusion he felt at appearing be- fore them as the successor of the Jate Bishop Pozzoni, and wished someone else had been in his place, He referred to the work of peace and love which he was engaged in, and said he would never forget he was a missionary who had come to China to preach Christ to his fellow men.
