COAL MINING PROBLEM.

Added to this is the growing use of oil as fuel and the burning of cheap local coal instead of the comparatively expensive steam coal for which Great Britain has been famous. Even if the price of British coal were cheapened somewhat, it is doubtful, whether there would be a very much greater demand at the moment.

The story has been brought to Hongkong by one of the crew who jumped into the water and made his escape to an island after swimming in the water for, four hours. Up to date there has been no further news of the fishing junk, which left Hongkong last week..
