The much-advertised recital by Signora Hilda Maria Vallarino took place in the Theatre Royal last evening in the presenco of a fair number of musical thusiasts. The programme WAB given as advertised, excepting that Mr. H. Edwin Gardner was only able to sing once, on account of his suffering from a severe sore throat..
Both lady vocalists-Signora Vallaricio and Sonora Consuelo n. de Guzman-were well received, and Mr. Harry Ore provided not the least enjoyable part of the concert with his pianoforte solos.' Mr. Frederick Mason was, ao, efficient accompanist.

The results. of the Fair, as re- viewed by the Exhibition manage-; ment, are most satisfactory. One exhibitor has reported the biggest order which he has ever had for wire goods, while another exhibitor n. has obtained more and better offers
for copper furnishings than at any previous Fair. Is the engineering trade, good orders have been placed] particularly for oil engines and medium-sized steel tools. In the electrical section, moderate-sized! electric plants have sold well and in the wireless section much busi- ness has been done and here Ger- mar buyers have been giving orders."
Among the Empire buyers, the first place is taken by Australia, which has given large orders for hollow ware and bruss' and steel water and steam fittings. India and South Africa have also been good customers. Much business has been done with Spain, Sean- dinavia and Denmark: One impor tant claim made on behalf of the Exhibition is that where British manufacturers have adopted mass production their products are un- equalled. A walting list of firms wishing to exhibit, but crowded oat, is so long that the authorities of the Fair have met to consider the advisability of greatly enlarging the building in preparation for a bigger success than ever next year.
