MARINE COURT.
INCREASED FINES FOR HARBOUR INFRINGEMENTS.
Many Cuses Yesterday,
At the Marine Court yesterday. before Lieut. Commdr. G. F. Hole, there were a large number of cases of harbour infringements and these were met with heavlor fines than has hitherto been the rule," in accordance with an announcement from the bench some time ago, on the subject of repeated violation. of Harbour Regulations.
Chan Kun, master of the steam launch Kwong Kim, pleaded guilty to a breach of a rule of the rond on January 4 and was fined $5, with the alternative of five days imprisonment with hard labour.
A similar fine and alternative, was the sentence passed on Cha Tak-wan and Pang Ng-sham, cargo boat masters, who pleaded guilty to causing an obstruction by 'an- choring in the Fairway on January 5.
Eleven maaters and mistresses of harbour boata were charged with lying inshore during the dark hours of January 6, and pleading guilty, with various excuses dealing with the arrival of ships and domestic. affairs, were severally fined $5 with the alternative of five days' impl aonment with hard labour.
