|ALTERING THE OUT-OF-DATE FROCK.
Most of us are faced with tho problem of what is going to happen to last season's frocks. As a mat- tor of fact, it is not nearly such a terrifying outlook as it at first seemia, with godet insertions bursting in from every possible
corner.
Everybody has a perfectly good frock stored away, mudo with af tight, or perhaps wrap-over skirt,| and ornamented with embroidery., Tho skirt may be left just as it is,f with a fall godot panel added straight across the front, and joined at either side seam.
Last winter the height off smartness was the plaincat do- sign, employing marvollcus material. This your smuri cout- uriers have produced some beautiful combinations, using velvet with romain, and georgette; with satin. You will find that n skirt ornamented with godets of a contrasting matorial gives a frock a new lease of lifo. Evon more simple than this is to add side panels, cut on godet lines, of course, and uneven in length.; These are joined down one sidel only, and have a novel lining.
Lingerie collars and cufis are the greatest blossing when it camos to rannvation. Billa Gray in three of her new frocks thai illustrate the "shifting silhouette" fashion ediet.

SOME ELABORATE HAIR DRESSING STYLES.
“Paris, never constant, is tired of the bob all of the stock, anadorned headdress, so she is greating elaborately curved and jewelled combs that will give the sucel, simple styles a little wholesome competition.

FLIES IN AMBER.
It is no longer the mode for the fashionable woman to wear am- bur of the clear variety. The cloudy amber also has suffered a temporary eclipse. To be right up to the moment," it is necos- sary to have ornamonts made from the translucent substance in the depths of which a fly, or flies, have been, entrapped. Jewellers ere calling attention to this new fad by means of little placards which they place beneath this Hort of jewellery.

When I was a child you could hardly find me without a skipping rope in my hands, and now that I've grown up I retain this childish practice because I belive it is a most excellent exercise for keeping the body graceful and supplé
It keeps you nimble and light on your feet and gives you a splundi, sense of being alive. If you skip rope enough, you don't need to worry much about any other form of exercise. While any exercise is more effectius if done out of doors, jumping the rope may be done very well inside provided the person who lives in the apartment below you doesn't object;
