College was opened yesterday by The new wing of St. Joseph's His Excellency the Governor, Sir E. Stubbs, who on conclusion of the ceremony. In an address to the pupils, announced that at his special request, Father Almar, Director of the School, was grant ing a holiday in celebration of the

event.

His Excellency arrived punctual ly at 5 p.m. accompanied by Mr. Private Calsford-St. Lawrence, Secretary and was met by Father, Aimar, the Director of St. Joseph's College. Father Spada, Acting Bishop of Hongkong, and Father Valtorta. Among those assembled for the opening ceremony were M. Courthial, French Consul to Hong kong. Mr. Ralphs, Mr. G. N. Orme, members of the School Committee and Education Board. The First Hongkong Troop of Bay Scouts formed a guard of honour in the School Yard, where the pupils were drawn up by classés.
