These are days when a spirit of reverence is sadly lacking; it has been ousted by an overweening conceit of self which leads us to think, "I'm the strongest, the wisest, and the best.". Our present day conditions largely encourage this spirit of self-esteem at the expense of reverence. These are democratie days, class distinctione are receding into the background, and "reverence for one's betters" is regarded as an archalam, for to-day we have no belters-we are all of equal worth. The prevalent outlook of men on the world of men around them is "I am as good as you so why should I doff my hat to
