When Train Left Rails.
For the first time since the Soviet Government has been in control, Russia has exported gold to England to recover a trade balance. This shows part of the shipment, optimated at £200,000, which will be disposed of by the Bank of England,
Street Floated Away.
The historic Quincy Market in Boston, Mass., was swept by '" flamos. Practically all apparatus in town was called to save the old landmark. Fifty firemen were overcome, and 12 had to slide for their lives when trapped on the roof.
Ties Up Traffic.
Several freight care,and a switch signal tower were turned upside down, but no ono was hurt, when a Pennsylvania railroad train was derailed and struck the tower near Pittsburg. The towerman foll with the tower but escaped injury, and a switch repairman jumped 30 foot into a crack when the cars came his way.
Forced Landing Demolishes Plane.
They had heavy rain in Detroit-almost a cloudburst-and it flooded dozens of streets. Streets that were paved with wood or composition blocks suffered heavily, as the blocks feated away.
River Cut Loose.
Water used to check a $150,000 warehouse fire in Philadelphia leaked into the subways, tying up traffic at Philadelphia's busiest section. Many feet of hose are seen strung along the strect leading to tho burning building.
Fire Warps Rails.
When forced to land at Penn Township, P., because of a brokon oil line, this U. S. Marine abservation airplane was wrecked and destroyed by fire. The pilot, Second Lieut- enant Thos. Cagel, and a companion, had serious injurios and burns.
Last "Daisy Chain".
The Maquoketa River after unusually heavy rains went roaring through the town of Cascade, in Dubuque county, la. The home shown above, was taken bodily from its foundations and, shortly after this picture was taken, was hurled against another house and wrecked...

Spanning the Delaware.
Here are two parachute jumpers leaping from the wings of a huge US Army Martin Bomber. The parachutes trail far behind the speeding plano and drag the men off the wings.
